Questions, answered
straight.
Is it safe to wear?
Yes. The insert is a passive sensor — it only reads the tiny voltages your brain already produces. It never sends any current, signal, or stimulation into you. It listens; it never writes.
Do I need gel or paste like a lab EEG?
No. NeuroFocus uses dry electrodes built into the earcup. There’s no gel, no prep, and no second headset — just the one you already game in.
Will it work with my headset?
It’s designed as an insert for over-ear gaming headsets. We’re finalizing the exact list of supported models during the pilot, which is part of what the waitlist helps us prioritize.
Does it record or stream my brain data?
Your focus score is computed from EEG on your own device. By design, your raw neural signal isn’t uploaded to us by default — what can leave your device is the focus number, and only when you choose, like in a stream overlay. Your stream shows the score, not your brainwaves.
Read our Neural Data Promise →What does the focus score actually measure?
It’s an engagement index from 0–100 — beta against alpha + theta (the Pope et al., 1995 metric used in attention research), read from a single around-ear channel. It rises as you lock in and falls as you drift. It’s a live indicator for gaming, not a clinical measurement.
Is this a medical device?
No. NeuroFocus is a consumer focus-tracking accessory for gaming and streaming. It isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, or manage any health condition.
When does it ship, and how much is it?
The first production run targets Q4 2026, and the current preorder price is $49.99. Both are targets while we finish development, and we’ll email the waitlist if anything moves.
Can I get a refund if I preorder?
Yes. Because preorders ship later, you can cancel for a full refund any time before your unit ships, and you have 30 days after delivery to return it.
